Policy Overview
Stonegate values family and supports colleagues needing time off for family responsibilities. This policy covers:
- Pregnancy and Maternity Leave
- Paternity Leave

Roles and Responsibilities
- Colleague: Inform your Line Manager and request leave as per policy.
- Line Manager: Complete risk assessments, log leave, and discuss arrangements.
- Payroll: Ensure correct pay for absences.
- HR Support: Provide guidance to colleagues and managers.
Maternity Leave
You can take up to 52 weeks of maternity leave (26 weeks ordinary + 26 weeks additional). Notify your Line Manager at least 15 weeks before your due date with:
- MATB1 Form
- Expected week of childbirth
- Preferred start date for leave
Statutory Maternity Pay: 39 weeks (first 6 weeks at 90% of average weekly earnings, then statutory rate).

When does maternity leave start?
Any time up to 11 weeks before your due date or the day after birth if earlier.
Do I accrue holiday during maternity leave?
Yes, holiday accrues and should be taken before maternity leave starts.
Paternity Leave
Eligible colleagues can take up to 2 weeks of ordinary paternity leave within 8 weeks of birth or adoption. Notify your Line Manager at least 15 weeks before the due date.
Adoption Leave
Up to 52 weeks leave and 39 weeks statutory adoption pay. Provide matching certificate from a UK-recognised adoption agency.
Shared Parental Leave
Eligible parents can share up to 50 weeks of leave and 37 weeks of pay. Notice must be given at least 8 weeks before leave starts.
Neonatal Care Leave
Up to 12 weeks leave if your child requires neonatal care. Enhanced pay for first 6 weeks, then statutory rate.
Parental Leave
Up to 18 weeks unpaid leave per child under 18. Maximum of 4 weeks per year.
Dependants Leave
Unpaid leave for emergencies involving a dependant.
Carers Leave
Up to 1 week unpaid leave per year to care for a dependant with long-term needs.
